Chicken Masala

(a tasty but mild curry)

Ingredients

1 chicken, cut in small pieces

3 onions, sliced thinly

4 tomatoes, sliced thinly

4 green chillies, sliced thinly

6 cloves garlic, ground

1 inch ginger, ground

1 tablespoon chilli powder

½ teaspoon turmeric powder

1 tablespoon coriander powder

½ teaspoon garam masala

½ cup yoghurt

some chopped coriander leaves

½ cup cooking oil

½ lemon juice

Method

1. Fry the onions until they turn light brown.

2. Take them out and pound them.

3. Lower the heat and fry the ground garlic, ginger, chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric.

4. Add 2 tablespoons of water and fry until fragrant.

5. Add the sliced tomatoes and chilli and fry for another few minutes.

6. Add the chicken, lemon juice and onion and fry on medium fire until fragrant and dry.

7. Add the yoghurt and garam masala and fry for a few minutes until the yoghurt is mixed well and the curry is dry and fragrant.

8. Add 2 cups of water and boil the curry on low fire until the chicken is cooked and the gravy has been reduced to ½.

9. Sprinkle a little garam masala and chopped coriander leaves and serve.
